Description:
In just one day, learn a super-simple soldering method that will allow you to get started with metalsmithing in a small space and with a minimum of tools and equipment. Design a beautiful pendant using a freeform stone as your guide; create awesome, smooth sterling silver balls from scrap to embellish your piece; and add personalized marks and interest with stamps and hammers. Learn to properly set your stone and finish your creation with your choice of a simple pinch bail or a hidden bail.
Students will Learn:
Students will learn how to create and size a custom bezel from scratch, how to solder the bezel and embellishments to a silver sheet backplate, how to create and use silver ball embellishments, and the proper way to set a free-form stone.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Task light (preferably battery powered) and eye magnification. All tools, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the project are provided by the instructor.
Materials in Kit:
Sterling silver sheet, sterling silver wire, fine silver bezel wire, a selection of cabochons, all tools, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the project.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
