Additional Information
Join a former editor from Art Jewelry magazine for a playful, crash-course in powder coating. Using a simplified coating process, students will learn how to easily add durable color to their metal jewelry. Test out a fluidizing bed -- a simple tool that easily applies an even coat of powder on metal. Learn how to prepare the metal, apply, and cure the powder to create a colorful bracelet, necklace, or an assortment of components to use in your jewelry designs. New colors and blanks for 2019! Additional session offered Tuesday, June 4 (B191879).
Students will Learn:
Learn how to easily add color and a durable protective finish to metal components; how to safely and simply (and inexpensively) incorporate this industrial coating process into their home jewelry studios with minimal tools, supplies, and mess.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 12 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Apron, task lamp.
Chainnose without grooves, flatnose standard.
Materials in Kit:
Variety of metal blanks, tweezers, hook wire, dust mask, copper wire, full-color instructions. Instructor will supply all tools and materials for use in this class.
