Vanessa Walilko

Vanessa Walilko Vanessa Walilko is an international award-winning jewelry and fashion designer. At age eight, she took a beaded jewelry class and fell in love with putting together little beads in order to make whatever ideas she could dream up. She took a chainmail class in 2006 and hasn't stopped linking together lots of little rings since. Pieces from Vanessa's wearable art collections have been featured in international exhibitions, including the Society of North American Goldsmiths "Exhibition in Motion" at the Museum of Fine Art in Houston, TX, the Indianapolis Museum of Fine Art, and the National Wool Museum in Australia. Her pieces have also won international awards in the Bead Dreams competition, British Bead Awards, and the Wearable Art Awards for the past several years. Vanessa has been teaching chainmail since 2008 and loves teaching people the ancient art of linking rings together to produce tactile, sculptural jewelry. In 2015, Kalmbach published her book on making anodized aluminum jewelry, Chain Mail + Color.
