Karen Bruns

Karen Bruns Karen Bruns began surface beading on wedding and bridesmaids dresses back in 1990, as a means to stay home with her children. In late 2008, she turned her focus to bead weaving and jewelry making professionally and began designing her own patterns and teaching. Each year Karen travels to a remote jungle village in southern India to teach a group of women the art of bead weaving techniques. They have a successful business, Azhagi Jewelry and are now designing their own jewelry. In 2011, she added Dichroic glass making and metalsmithing skills to her repertoire, though her creative love is still beading. In the U.S., Karen has been a guest instructor at several bead stores, and was a regular instructor at BABE! (Bay Area Bead Extravaganza) in Oakland, CA.
