Doug Baldwin

Doug Baldwin Doug Baldwin is a commercial and fine art photographer. After receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, he opened a commercial photography company. Since then he has created photography, designed websites, produced videos and created graphic design for a wide range of clients from individual glass artists to Fortune 500 corporations.

Doug took up flameworking after classes with Dolly Ahles and Laurie Nessel at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, Arizona and with Kim Osibin at Arrow Springs in California. His love for all things glass has widened to include glass fusing, slumping, sand carving, casting, neon and plasma sculptures.

Many glass and bead artists would like to have nice photos of their finished pieces, but don’t have the technical expertise to accomplish good photos themselves. Doug has recognized this need and has designed a Photography class that will teach everyone the secrets of good lighting, background choices, photo layout design and camera settings to achieve professional results easily. The Photoshop class covers two different workflows using Photoshop CS5 and Photoshop Elements 11. The workflows will demonstrate how to achieve color correct photos, how to remove an object from the background, add a new background and new drop shadow.

Doug’s teaching experience includes photography classes at the Art Center College of Design, the Art Institute of Phoenix, sold out Photography and Photoshop classes at the BeadandButton Show, the Glass Craft & Bead Expo, the ISGB Gathering, the Sonoran Glass School, the Tucson Bead Show, and at the Mesa Arts Center in Arizona.

You'll leave his class empowered to create photos as beautiful as the glass and jewelry art you're photographing.
