Additional Information
In this workshop, students will learn to create a beaded “Worry” Vessel designed with rotating modules that, not unlike worry beads, can rotate in your hands, perhaps as you contemplate your next beading project. You will begin by learning to plan your vessel, then be taken step-by-step through the process of building and assembling the base and modules. Techniques will include peyote, netting, and cubic right angle weave (CRAW). You’ll learn to use thread tension to control the rigidity of the structure, increase and decrease peyote to give the structure contours, and use color placements and embellishments to create interesting variations to an otherwise plain background. The vessel is a self-supporting container built entirely of seed beads and pearls. It is up to the beader to decide which, how many, and in what order the modules are added. Two of the modules are designed to rotate around a central core. A lid topped with a crystal rivoli closes the vessel. The finished product is also a functional container.
