Description:
This is a lampworking class that will focus on making hearts, hearts, and more hearts in soft glass. The class will cover shaping of a basic heart using gravity, and flame and heat control to manipulate the glass. Students will also work on stringer application and simple decorations. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back.
Students will Learn:
Students will learn basic flame, heat control and different ways to manipulate the hot glass while shaping well proportioned hearts. Students will also work on different techniques using tools and gravity.
Prerequisites:
Some lampworking experience is recommended.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Brass marver, brass stump shaper, didymium glasses, graphite marvers, graphite stump shaper, knife, large mashers, mandrel holders, mandrels, metal ruler, personal lampworking tools, raking tools, razor blade tool, reading glasses, metal soup can.
Materials in Kit:
Assorted colors of soft glass rods.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
