Description:
In just one day, learn a simple soldering method that will allow you to get started with metalsmithing in a small space and with minimal tools and equipment. Design a beautiful pendant using a free-form stone as your guide. Create smooth sterling silver balls from scrap to embellish your piece, and add personalized marks and interest with stamps and hammers. Learn to properly set your stone and finish your creation with a simple pinch bail. Additional session offered Thursday, June 6 (B192358).
Students will Learn:
Learn how to create and size a custom bezel from scratch; how to solder the bezel and embellishments to a silver sheet back plate; and the proper way to set a free-form stone. Students will also be given free access to an online video series with information about setting up a home studio, using essential tools and equipment, and more.
Prerequisites:
Some prior jewelry-making experience is helpful but not required. This class is perfect for beginners!

Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Eye magnification, task light.
Materials in Kit:
Sterling silver sheet, wire, pinch bail; fine-silver bezel wire; selection of free-form cabochons. Instructor provides use of all tools, equipment, and consumables necessary to complete the project.
