Description:
Students will learn how to to get super detailed borosilicate glass pendants with fish, seaweed, and other glass components. Students will add color to clear glass exploring the concept of making a lens to magnify the detail they will be including. Students will use clear and colored rod, millefiori, latticino, twisties, dichroic glass, and other components. This class will include both demonstration and hands-on practice. Class involves the use of a torch with open flame and gases. Wear safety (didymium) glasses, cotton clothing, and closed-toe shoes. Tie long hair back.
Students will Learn:
Learn specific techniques of gathering up a lens of hot glass and how to make a hook a few ways. Students will also use and discuss pontils, millefiori, latticino, twisties, dichroic glass, and other components. Andrew will discuss millefiori history, techniques, and application.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Basic hand tools for lampworking: didymium glasses, tweezers, graphite pad, paddle, reamer, marble mold if desired. All of these tools can be purchased at the show and the instructor will have extra ones to share and try before buying.
Materials in Kit:
Various clear and colored borosilicate glass, assorted murrine for application.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
