Description:
Enamel is a very old art form where a powdered glass is fused with metal. There are many different techniques that can be used to create different effects. You will work with stencils and both opaque and transparent enamels to create a cabochon or button. This process of using enamel fired onto copper creates a very permanent and beautiful surface.
Students will Learn:
How to kiln-fire enamel and how to apply enamel using a stencil to create a design that creates depth and color.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Paper, pen, pencils, safety glasses, scissors, tweezers. Optional: Trivets, green kiln glasses, sifters, brass brush.
Pliers:
Flatnose standard.
Materials in Kit:
Copper pieces, disposable sifting mask, enamel and stencils for use in class.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
