Description:
Make a stunning clasp that is too beautiful to stay hidden in the back. This asymmetrical necklace hooks in the front and is easier to make then it looks. The instructor will break down the process as you work to perfect your filing techniques, in particularly how to bevel flatten wire. You will also learn how to make pointed swirls and faceted arrowhead shapes. You choose what kinds of gems you would like to pair with the clasp, keep it simple or add a cascade of gems down the front.
Students will Learn:
Filing techniques, beveling, pointed swirls, arrowhead shapes, shaping with your fingers, layering, polishing.
Prerequisites:
Proficient in the modified Soumak weave.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Anvil pillow, awl, bench block, chasing hammer, cutters, leather-tipped ring clamp, magnifiers, metal files, Optivisors, permanent marker (pointed), ruler, gemstones and beads of your choice to accent the necklace.
Pliers:
Chainnose, flatnose standard, roundnose.
Materials in Kit:
14-, 16-, 18-, 26-, 28-gauge fine-silver wire; 24-gauge sterling silver wire; sterling silver chain; dowel; bobbin; sandpaper; Pro Polish Pad.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
