Description:
Give your metal jewelry a professional finished look. Using an array of power tools, such as flex shafts, Dremel brand motorized tools, and an array of accessory finishing tips, you will create a small dog tag style pendant project. Additional techniques such as stamping, doming, texturing, and oxidizing will be demonstrated to finish your pendant. Additional session offered Saturday evening, June 9 (B181906).
Students will Learn:
How to work with a number of motorized tools such as flex shafts and Dremels. The pros and cons of each tool type will be discussed, as well as safety skills, and how to change out accessory tips. A variety of accessories will be demonstrated such as grinding tips, silicon carbide polishing tips, Cratex bullets and wheels, 3M radial bristle disks, brass wheels, split shaft mandrels, and felt wheels with polishing compound. Basic hand finishing techniques will be emphasized including filing, sanding, texturing, using hole punches, stamping, oxidizing, and doming.

Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Hard plastic safety glasses. Instructor provides use of all tools required for the project. Students with close up vision issues should bring magnifiers and/or task lamps.
Materials in Kit:
Copper bead chain, copper sheet, chocolate.
