Description:
Learn introductory metalmithing techniques while fabricating a variety of unique earrings and components -- no soldering or power tools necessary! Use texturing, stamping, and patina to enhance metal shapes. Transform wire into geometric free-forms to wear alone or enhance with your favorite beads, and create several styles of hand-fabricated earring wires.
Students will Learn:
Shaping, forming, texturing, and stamping techniques; free-hand wirework; metal fabrication; patina techniques; how to make earring wires; professional finishing techniques.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Bench block, hammer, metal files, paper, pencils, ruler, terry-cloth towel, wire snips, wooden dapping block, metal hole punch, goldsmith’s hammer. Optional: Cup bur, dapping block.
Pliers:
Needlenose, roundnose.
Materials in Kit:
Copper sheet, copper wire, copper disks, sterling silver wire, sterling silver teardrop shapes, beads, sandpaper, polishing cloth, instructions, patina to be used in class.
Limit:
One seat per person per class.
