Get ready for a new boot camp class based on the sampler section of Kate’s latest book Metalsmithing Made Easy. The workflow in this class is similar to her signature class, Simple Soldering Boot Camp. The projects are new so whether or not you have taken Simple Soldering, this class will help advance your metalworking skills to a new level.
Students will Learn:
How to work through a bunch of essential techniques: setting stones three ways using prongs, gallery wire, and tube setting; get a firm foundation on how to use a rotary tool to polish, pierce, cut and file metal; helpful tips and tricks to up your metalsmithing game.
Advanced beginner to intermediate metalworking skills.
Project completion:
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Bench block, chasing hammer, flush-cut wire cutters. metal file, rotary tool with universal chuck or flex shaft.
Materials in Kit:
Metal blanks, cabochon stone, 4 mm stone for tube setting, copper rivets with 1/4-in. stem, 6-in. half-round wire,6-in. gallery wire, tube for setting, assorted rotary tool bits.
One seat per person per class.
