Additional Information
This class is a comprehensive introduction to wire-weaving techniques. It will start with an overview of essential tools and types of wires used in weaving, followed by demonstrations of several weaving methods. Students will be given time between demos to practice and should leave class with a number of weaving samplers.
Students will Learn:
Basket-weaving and its variations focusing on proper technique and consistency; discussions and demonstrations will include tool selection, wire properties, supporting techniques, and troubleshooting. Students will be shown examples of jewelry where the techniques have been used.
Project completion:
Project will not be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Flush wire cutters, ruler, fine-tip permanent marker, blue masking tape (1-in. 3M brand is best), work mat, magnification, task light.
Chainnose without grooves.
Materials in Kit:
Copper wire in two gauges, colored copper wire, accent beads, illustrated handouts.
One seat per person per class.
