Combine layers of metal sheet, found objects, and paper to create layers of negative and positive space to complete unusual wearable charms, Talismans, and pendants. Multiple pieces will be finished to attach to a charm bracelet or create a pendant.
Students will Learn:
Focus on cold joining techniques such as riveting traditional nuts and screws, bundled objects such as a small stack of paper; how to add height and dimension by incorporating a technique using tubing which creates a hollow form; clean up and finishing work.
Experience using a jeweler’s saw will be helpful.
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 18 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Anvil, anvil pillow, awl, bench pin, jeweler's saw, metal files, permanent marker (pointed), safety glasses, small hammer, tin snips, vice, wire snips. Optional: Drill, flat metal files, photographs, transparencies, personal objects.
Standard flatnose, standard roundnose.
Materials in Kit:
Bronze sheet metal, tubing, screws, nuts, 16-gauge wire, transparent paper, jump rings.
