Learn how to merge a variety of jewelry-making techniques while crafting this magical pendant. Students will employ soldering skills to create the bezel for the focal piece in the middle of the pendant, and then use wires to shape, forge, and weave a beautiful frame around it. Students will work with templates to help with symmetry.
Students will Learn:
How to set a stone with a soldered bezel; how to use large wire for shaping; wire forging and wire-weaving techniques.
Must have basic soldering skills and intermediate wireworking skills.
Project will be completed in class
Minimum Age Requirement:
At least 16 years old.
Supplies to Bring:
Flush wire cutters, ruler (12-in. or longer), fine tip permanent marker, blue masking tape (1-in. 3M brand is best), small steel block or anvil, small hammer, fine-tooth metal file, task light, magnification, work surface.
Chainnose, flatnose, roundnose, nylon jaw.
Materials in Kit:
Fine-silver wire in three gauges; silver bezel strip, blank; cabochon;15-in. sterling silver chain; silver jump rings, hook; color illustrated step-by-step handout; use of instructor’s torches, patina supplies, etc.
